Why do you need a disaster recovery plan if your data is in the cloud?
Regardless of how well you have trained your team and how well you protect your systems there is no substitute for having a robust Data Backup and Disaster Recovery Plan.
The penultimate stage in our Cyber Hygiene regime, will determine the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) for a successful restoration of your missing data.
The likes of Microsoft, Dropbox and Google have a responsibility to provide a platform to store your valuable data, they have no responsibility for the data itself.
Whilst these platforms have rudimental systems for recovering missing data , they are limited in both functionality and timeline.
This is so that in case of any cyber attacks or any of the systems that fail, your data is backed up in your own systems and this means that you are not entirely reliant on these big corporations to keep your data safe.

There is a saying within the IT industry that you can never have too many backups. Industry best practice dictates that you should maintain a minimum of 3 copies of data across 2 different platforms and at least 1 should be on-line.
